A
poem for me begins with words playing and not a complete
thought. Words dancing... selecting partners in the
dance... standing side by side forming a mini story
expressing thoughts. A living feeling is born.
A painting begins for me
with colors I want to see. The jars of paint, like
partners, are selected and I begin with rapid brush
strokes to cover the blank canvas. No photos. No models.
Nothing visually before me.
Within 10 to 15
minutes, I can begin to see what the painting is to be.
I begin to paint as rapidly as possible allowing the
painting to come through for me... dancing. Colors stand
side to side.
The poem in the
painting is born.
I have always been part
of the art process since childhood involving myself in
the art experience. This journey brings me here to Tybee
with my husband, Michael, a poet, writer, and Peabody
Award winning broadcast journalist.
We welcome you to
celebrate with us in this creative space. We invite you
to share our joy.
(Irene published two
critically acclaimed books of poetry. She owned and
operated WILLOW RIVER PRESS in Chicago, Illinois. She
has run galleries in three states. There is not a day
that passes that a poem is not started in her heart...
