ANN JACKSON

Ann Jackson was born in Cleveland, Ohio to a long line of artists. She started painting as a young girl and subsequently attended Ursuline College where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She later studied under Constantine and Roman Chatov as well as Daniel Green. Her plein aire, impressionistic work has been described as "tranquil scenes which evoke a feeling of peaceful, soft serenity." Her work invites you to relax into the quietude of the natural world. Ann's mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylic, and clay. Ann continues to stay very active, painting 10 or more hours a day on average at her Tybee Island, Georgia studio.

"I work in all mediums, but prefer to work in oils. I studied under Russian brothers, Constantine and Roman Chatov... and later with Daniel Green of Connecticut. My B.A. is from Ursuline College. I am settled on Tybee Island with husband, Basil. It has been quite a ride getting here."

"In 1970, we opened the Ann Jackson Gallery in Historic Roswell, Georgia. 5 of our 8 children helped in the overall production. We are blessed with a large, healthy family. The gallery is still up and running and recognized internationally. In the 80's, Bas and I moved onto our sailboat. It is called the "Quest." For 13 years, that became my floating studio. We sailed from Maine to Key West and the Bahamas. Some of my work is shown in the galleries and boutiques on the Cays around Abaco's.

"We came to Tybee Island a few years ago and recently celebrated being married 50 years. I have my work in many private, as well as corporation locations, including; Georgia Southern Railway, Kimberly Clark, Coca-Cola, IBM, Knowledge Ware Corp, Western Electric, Georgia Power, and Friedman's Fine Art Gallery. I am most thrilled to join Renie! My proudest achievement? Easy... Raising 8 wonderful children!"
